About the Mura Buai Wellbeing Program
Family safety and wellbeing is a key focus of Mura Kosker Sorority. Through the Mura Buai Wellbeing Program, Indigenous families can access a culturally responsive support system that helps to improve their social, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
We have an Outreach Worker located in communities across the Torres Strait and we aim to improve the safety and wellbeing of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and kinship structures in the region.
How we help families
We aim to build parental and guardian capacities to safely care for and protect their children and families.
Our team also helps families in dealings with Health, Housing, Education, Centrelink and other service providers in the region. We help with translations and provide families with confidence and reassurance in their decisions.
This free and confidential service is available to all family & kinship structures.
Our tailored program includes:
- Basic skills in managing a household and in-home support
- Meal preparations and healthy eating
- Help with establishing safe and practical routines for your children
- Safety within the home
- Budgeting support
- Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) (aged 0-18)
