About our Family Participation Program (FPP)
The Family Participation Program (FPP) supports Torres Strait families to participate in child protection decision making. Through the program, Mura Kosker Sorority Incorporated focuses on helping families with children and young people under the age of 18yrs, including those at risk of being subject of a child protection notification.
The FPP is a free and confidential service that works independently of Child Safety and is supports families in their dealings with the department in decisions that affect them and their children.
How does Mura Kosker help?
We work with parents, carers, guardians and community members to ensure that parents and families are involved with child protection decision making.
- Assist families to understand Child Safety processes
- Provide support to families to enable them to have active input in decision-making.
- Conduct family mapping to identify family members who could support the resolution.
- Facilitate family planning sessions
- Facilitate formal family led decision making processes
- Link families with the support services they need to implement and sustain the family-developed plan.

Am I eligible for this service?
The FPP is available to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with children and young people under the age of 18yrs who are at risk of being the subject of a child protection notification or who are already subject to intervention by the statutory child protection system.
We help families that live in the Torres Strait region. Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of the children.
How do I access this service?
