Mura Kosker Sorority farewells interim manager

At their Annual General Meeting in February 2020, the Mura Kosker Sorority Board appointed new Members, filling all representative positions on the Board.

Lead by Mura Kosker Sorority Board President Mrs Regina Turner, the Board welcomed Ms Geiza Stow from Badhu as the Near Western Representative. Ms Stow replaces Miss Rowena Johnson who has held the Near Western Representative position for seven years.

“We would like to acknowledge Rowena for her volunteered service and contributions to the Mura Kosker Sorority Board,” said Mrs Turner.

Also appointed to the Board is Mrs Emily Beckley from Ngaurpai (Horn Island). Mrs Beckley was appointed to the Board as the Inner Island Representative, a position formerly held by Ms Pauline Ahwang. This position has been vacant since July 2019.

“Our new Board Members have joined the organisation in an exciting time, as we’re headed into a new decade with a clear direction.” “We look forward to working with both Ms Stow and Mrs Beckley,” added Mrs Turner.

After the AGM, Mura Kosker Sorority also said farewell to Mr Ken Riddiford; the organisation’s interim Manager, who was acknowledged for his efforts and leadership over the past five months.

Mr Riddiford joined the organisation in September 2019 and helped the Board to launch their five-year Strategic Plan and the organisation’s 12-month Operations Plan in December 2019.

Mr Riddiford was also a crucial part of the successful intensive training hosted for the entire organisation and Board, held on both Thursday Island and Cairns in January 2020.

“We are grateful to Mr Riddiford for the efforts he has made to ensure that Mura Kosker Sorority continued moving forward in both service delivery and training,” said Mrs Turner.
